Crystalline Potassium Nitrate

This product is soluble in water and ethanol; upon heating, it loses water and hydrogen chloride to form magnesium oxide, which is hygroscopic. In the metallurgical industry, it serves as a refractory material and a binder for lining furnace walls, as well as a raw material for smelting metallic magnesium. In the construction industry, magnesium chloride is combined with magnesite to produce strong magnesium-oxygen cement and glass-magnesium boards, which can even be used to manufacture artificial stone. In agriculture, it is employed to create cotton defoliants; and in the food industry, it acts as a coagulant for making tofu.
